Hortus Publicus
Secret Gardens, Tent's Educational Program, CBK Rotterdam 2012.
A series of workshop. 200 soil bricks with sunflower, courgette, pumpkin and beans.
Hortus Publicus is a project in which students, through an educational workshop, learn about different ingredients to produce a perfect soil brick, which will substitute a concrete covering tile into the public space. The soil brick where planted with different vegetable seeds: courgette, pumpkin, sunflower and beans, that after a period of growth inside CBK, decorate and altered the perception and the aesthetics of the public streets in Rotterdam. Besides borrowing a sculpture or painting from CBK, everybody was invited to adopt soil bricks (Humus tile with vegetable seeds) as well to be planted in the public space.
